Hmmm.  I don't think you can shoegaze in the desert.  That just doesn't seem right.  It needs to be cloudy before you can shoegaze.

Their early stuff is great and the guitars and certainly shoegazy but the vocals never were.  Ashcroft was definitely a Rock and Roll Frontman in the groovy Jim Morrison drug shaman mold.  Very different from the singers in Ride or Slowdive who stood in one place while singing with their hair in their eyes.

Is Spacemen 3 considered shoegaze?  I'd think that they, along with Jesus and Mary Chain, (both of whom had obviously listened to lots and lots of Velvet Underground ) were  more or less the inventors of shoegaze.
