I'd noticed that, and this week's Doctor Who is basically "It's shit until the really great ending". Luckily I'd already seen it at that point (and for the record disagree, it wasn't the best episode but I liked it a lot).

I guess you're right, and when it comes to a show airing that I really love I should learn to avoid the site until I've seen an episode. The main problem with that though is I'm in the UK, and it's rare to see a series at the same time. Though we get Outcast earlier then you guys, which is weird. And it's not been…
Not sure if this is the right place but due to the lack of any other suitable articles today I thought I'd post a mini-rant here about The AV Club's frustrating use of spoilers in the titles for some tv reviews and newswire pieces.
Yeah, I'm confused as well. I've not read all the weekly reviews and have only just watched the finale now, but was really surprised to find that so many have such problems with it. Like you I thought the finale wasn't the best but it was still pretty damn funny, and this season as a whole has made me laugh a great…
The weird thing for me is that Harness's adaptation of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell was superb, and I adore the novel and so had high expectations, but his Who work so far has been patchy.
I agree, I felt there were a little too manipulative, like here's the bit where you give me a round of applause for saying something deep and meaningful, but a lot of his material was superb.
I had a friend who went to see The Fall and was incredibly pissed off that they did a full show, Mark E. Smith was in good humour, and nothing went wrong at all. Especially as that tends to only happen about once a decade at one of their gigs.
My first memory is when I went to see Star Wars at the cinema when I was seven, when it was re-released in the UK in 1981. Unsurprisingly I loved it, and on the way back we popped in to a newsagent where I saw a sci-fi magazine with both Star Wars and the forthcoming Empire Strikes Back on the cover. After a brief bit…
Thanks for that, I'll still give it a go but will be prepared to be frustrated.
I've not seen it yet but plan to, does it have any sense of closure or is it left on a cliffhanger?
I've found the way to beat Google is to be really poor! I can't afford any kind of iphone type device and don't shop online because I don't have the money. So I win! Sort of.
I adored both episodes and think the review's definitely too harsh when it comes to certain aspects, the nostalgia factor especially. I also think Andy and Lucy have been handled well, and there was a lovely little moment when Bobby was crying where Lucy gently squeezed Andy's hand which I found quite touching.
Obviously we have different tastes but I thought the Paranormal Activity series, Hush, Split, Sinister and the Purge movies were tedious affairs, formulaic and offering nothing original to the genre. I am fond of The Visit and Oculus, but both have their flaws, and overall I look at Blumhouse's list of films and see a…
That's how I felt about Twin Peaks when it was first announced. But in about 14 weeks time I'll finally be able to take off my suit of armour (which is wrapped in bubblewrap, naturally) and live life normally again / die without a care in the world.
He's making a lot of money for sure, but bar Get Out and a couple of others the majority of his films are pretty piss poor.
I see your point but I was using the description that Mike used in the Black Lodge. But like you say, I don't think there was anything Coop could do - bar perhaps being less trusting of a strange meaty fleshy tree thing!
I thought it was to do with the fact that Cooper was tricked by the evil tree doppleganger. If Cooper had left as originally planned then he would have been his normal self, but as he was sent to non-existence and escaped by unconventional means his brain was frazzled and he has no idea who he is. But as others have…
Phoebe Augustine, who played Ronette, is in the cast list for episode 3 on imdb but only as "American Girl"
I was terrified that I wasn't going to love this. I'm sure a lot of others on this site have similar stories but I adored Twin Peaks from when the very first episode aired when I was only sixteen, it just blew me away and was quite unlike anything I'd seen before. It made me realise what television was capable of, the…
I'm glad to see one of these is by John Dorney, he's written some great Big Finish Who in the past and I've always hoped he'd get a shot at writing for the main series. And appearing in it for that matter, I saw him in The A-Team: The Musical and he made me laugh a great deal.
