I grew up watching the 60s sitcoms in re-runs, so it's nearly impossible for me to judge, though I can say that I've gone back to both DICK VAN DYKE and GET SMART, and I didn't love either one as much as I had hoped.
A Fallow Decade
Stuck in between the groundbreaking shows of the 1970s and the deconstructions of the 1990s, the 1980s was probably the worst decade for sitcoms.
Paula Marshall was unreal in the original "Cupid." Also, everything else she was in before and since.

I dunno about that, but it was a #1 hit single in 1973, showing how eclectic the charts were back then, and the 45 came in clear gold vinyl, which I still wish I had.

I wonder if they are cutting back on the hiking and driving scenes as an attempt to make the show even more realistic. It's just not possible for even the best of friends at that age to meet on a daily — or hell, even a weekly — basis to just hang out.
