Oh, it is very worth clicking. Nothing like watching a naked chick fart repeatedly into a chocolate cake. That site has always been a go to favorite of mine when wanting to show the levels of ridiculousness that is readily available on the Internet. And yes, it is hilarious.

You know, there are a few subcategories of these break up songs. There are the gleefully malevolent, "fuck you" type songs like No Children and Don't Think Twice, It's Alright verses the sobbing into the pillow songs that are more full of despair.

Oddly enough, I played To Be a Good Women for my girlfriend last night. I promise, there was no malice intended on my part. There is a version of the song, I used to have, from Top of the Pops or some other British tv show that I actually prefer to the album version. I have looked around for it again, but I've been

@Acid Police Superchunk do those songs well. The thing about Detroit has a Skyline is it also has that shitty hopefulness that is often included in break ups as in, "Meet me again, maybe a year from now. Meet me again, I won't flake this time."

In Spite of Me by Morphine has always been a good crying-in-your-beer song.  That, and Lost Cause by Beck.

If we are going with Dylan, it starts and stops with Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.

@avclub-3442f9112caadb24c9eb9020a986eeb8:disqus You nailed it. Long Walk to Forever makes me well up like Old Yeller. For being so brief, it is amazingly poignant. Yeah, I am in love with an incredible girl and just emailed her that story. You truly are a robot to not enjoy that.
Read it and literally weep: http://lib.

Well, you guys got a donation from me. Feel free to wrap that dirty, sexy currency around your engorged member and beat it furiously to wide open beavers.

Yes, goddamnit. Cool Hand Luke is one of my all time favorite movies.

@The Liker - I sent this article to my girlfriend and her first response was the end of True Grit. Specifically for her, the horse giving out.

Another manly teary eyed scene is the the crash scene of The Great Santini.

A classic
One that always gets me is the end of the courtroom scene in To Kill a Mockingbird. That line, "Jean Louise, stand up. Your father is passing." gets me every time.

I am actually a bit angry with you, Miller, for even bringing up the Fox and the Hound. That brings back that wonderful memory of the 6 year old me bawling inconsolably in the theater.

Food may not be mentioned on every page, but seriously, I can picture Martin drooling on his keyboard during some of the feast scenes.

You could, but you will miss out on character development and some of the things that motivate them. Plus, you will miss out on painfully detailed descriptions of whatever food is being eaten and how the characters are dressed. Oh, the Myrish lace and goldcloth! Why this roasted quail stuffed with mushrooms and leeks

On topic, I agree with the Thomas Covenant recommendation. I have only read the first trilogy, but it was pretty damn fun. It is very similar to the Lord of the Rings' story, but it is much darker

Just wanted to point out that 180 copies of A Dance with Dragons were accidentally shipped early a couple of weeks ago, and there have warnings all around the Martin fan sites and such that spoilers should be watched out for. I hope Tasha monitors this discussion because it is almost a certainty some asshole will try

Series
I am a sucker for a great series. When you get attached to characters, it is great to have their stories continue. Being a big fan of detective fiction, I have read the entire John D MacDonald, Travis McGee series at least 5 times. It may be more for the Dennis Lehane, Kenzie/Gennaro books but there is only

Yup, I have read everything HST has written more than once.

Count me in with the folks who gave up on Something Happened. Catch-22 is the funniest, well-written book I have ever encountered. I have been pushing people to read that for 20 years.
