It's an Invasion of the Body Snatchers kinda thing. Soon we'll all be Lobsters.

This guy tells it like it is.

Thank you kindly for the recommendation! I HAVE seen Noroi, but I was actually somewhat unimpressed by it. Atmospheric as it was, I found it a bit overlong: two hours is a tad much for found footage.

Thank you kindly! I will get to reading it right away.

SJP's finest moment, in my opinion.

@avclub-d72f705337e5adcf7e33ec0381c5f5b2:disqus I was meaning to ask you: I read the first part of your Slenderman essay when you linked to it, and thought it was brilliant. Well-written and fascinating stuff. Is the other part available online?

@avclub-4e0e49f8aaff84041d3a1d248f3bba39:disqus To see where they got the inspiration for that scene from (and having it go on a little longer, building tension), watch the French film À l'intérieur (Inside). The Strangers ain't bad, but it borrows liberally from that film and Ils, another French horror movie.

Yeah, I'd say so. I saw Ringu ages ago and loved it, saw The Ring in cinemas and enjoyed it so much I saw it twice. One of the few remakes of J-horror that are actually worthwhile (I think The Grudge ain't too shabby either), for all the reasons listed in the article. Avoid the sequel, though.

@Juan_Carlo:disqus I definitely agree that Suspiria is Argento's best (I'd list it amongst my top 5 favorite films, actually), and that the drop-off in quality with some of his other stuff is sometimes horrendously steep.

I think The Ring 2 (US) is just uniformly terrible. By the time the CGI deer showed up I was checked out (and that happens in the first 15 minutes).

Wholeheartedly agree with your barely-subtextual point, there. I really like Community, but I never understood how people here could get SO attached to a show that is basically Scrubs 2000. It's funnier, but about as "deep".

Sung to the tune of Rage Against the Machine's cover of "Renegades of Funk".
