I've been meaning to get that book after reading The Ruins which was awesomely terrifying until the very end where the plants started talking in German. That kinda broke the spell for me and I actually said something "Oh, come on!" out loud. I thought the vines were evil enough as somewhat sentient plants, they didn't

I remember browsing through that thing once in a library. It's not scary to me, just super creepy and icky and unnerving. It's by the same guy who made that one manga about people who walked into these people-shaped holes that suddenly started appearing in some cliffs, right? That was pretty messed up as well.

You can't flag my comment! You can only do that if I call someone ugly.

Regarding, Hellboy, do not see the sequel. Not only does it suck but it does absolutely nothing with the Hellboy mythos. It might as well be Some Dude Who's a Demon - The Motion Picture. Why AVClub ever gave it a B is beyond me.

Like I said it was real good, not awesomely great. Maybe Cabin kinda spoiled me, but there was some weight missing in AtB, or something. I realize that it's a comedy first and anything else second, but it felt a little too breezy for me. It was admittedly fun trying to keep up with all the slang.

That's the way I try to approach every movie I find interesting. For instance I don't know anything about Beasts of the Southern Wild or Looper beyond their basic premises. Knowing nothing about CBitW beyond that it's a horror movie with some meta elements definitely made it more enjoyable.

Finally saw two movies (on DVD) which I've been meaning to see a long time.
