Exit Planet Dust and Dig Your Own Hole are both masterpieces. The downward slide began with Surrender, even though that was still super awesome. Then we got Come With Us that was kinda ho-hum, Push the Button was just crappy and that new one plain ole sucks.

I remember reading Good Omens and thinking "that was pretty OK" afterwards. I was pretty surprised to see that it had a huge cult following and some people considered it BEST THING EVER!!! It certainly read exactly like a collaboration between Gaiman and Pratchett but hardly blew me away.

I'd say that the point of slacker films is not that they show the growth of the character, although it seems to be a necessary element in them. I think they're pretty analogous to exploitation films which all claim to have some moralizing message, but are really just excuses to film a lot of sex, violence etc. Like…
