Chippendale's Rectal Rangers

Man, this headline is such a great classic Onion shout out. "Christ returns to NBA."

Wait, isn't this NOT the same set referenced in the first link about the guy who found the set on Google maps? I thought that was the one from the original 1977 film, not the one from The Phantom Menace that's going to disappear.

The best part about this is, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are basically (small "L") libertarians who have frequently mocked liberals over the years and once said "we really %$#@ing hate liberals" in a Q&A. (Though, presumably that's hyperbole considering they're friends with Jon Stewart and the like.) South Park is far

I love the episode and season 5 was certainly the show at close to its peak, but I would have been bummed if "The Gift" was truly the finale to the show. Not just knowing in retrospect about the later episodes that were so great, but simply because *SPOILER* Buffy dies at the end. I get how it's appropriate in a way,

@whovian Because, to be honest, I think I mixed up the name Amway with Conway, which is actually a clothing store. My friend got involved with Amway.

I'm not against shows doing research, but it just seems kind of silly to REQUIRE them to do so when they're already existing in magical, improbable worlds. Tonally, Buffy was always very tongue-in-cheek, self-aware, parodyish, etc. It was also very character-centric, and so the writers would use the magic to speak

Incisive post from the guy who hasn't watched it in 13 years.

I would have thought this was outdated too, but one of my friends legitimately fell for the Conway scam a year or so ago. He invited me to his home to watch a "presentation" and it was exactly like in the episode.

Wait…you really wanted the writers to spend hours researching magic facts for their TV show? When magic is itself already a fictional concept?

Is anything that comments on itself suddenly bad now, though? Did you hate all those early Simpsons jokes where they mocked their own merchandise and hype? (At first they were cute and funny, but now they're just annoying!) What about any other comedy that poked fun at itself? Or the countless examples of great

I think Normal Again might genuinely be in my top 20 or so. I'm probably just a sucker for when shows get "meta" and make fun of their own premises, but still. I agree with what Mythagoras says. I think it would have been maddening as, like, the series finale, or if they had genuinely implied that the whole series was

The best part of this is, you could apply this statement to the 2-3 different times in the course of the film that he says it, and it would be equally true for either/any of them.

If I'm not mistaken, Wernstrom (WEEEEEERNSTROM!) has not appeared since the second half of season 6.

Jesus christ, that list just depressed the hell out of me. Is even a single original, non-franchise film going to come out that summer?

Are you, @avclub-6dafab5f86d9e5f32ba9ce303d86098f:disqus , menstruating right now?

Plus, if you go back and look at even all of the re-releases of the original Star Wars (including the '97 Special Edition), even those all say "Star Wars" and not "A New Hope." It wasn't until Phantom Menace that any of the marketing materials started emphasizing the episode numbers or even that subtitle.

God, I'm glad someone thought the same thing! When I first heard the name I really honestly assumed it was the latest Disney duck show.

In fairness, I think Coolio's issue was that he felt "Gangsta's Paradise" was supposed to address actual issues (poverty or something? I dunno, I've never listened to it that carefully), and might have had less issue with the parody if it wasn't of a song that was a little too dear and personal to him. That said, I

This is one of those movies that I completely missed when it came out, and then would see bits and pieces of on TV (when Comedy Central used to air it) many years later and would instantly say "I guess I didn't miss much."
