The only problem with this, for a left-leaning person, is that a party won't change support for their candidate and, as such, the only option for replacement would then be someone from the GOP, because basically no third-party candidate will ever, ever have a chance (well, at least not in a single term's time).

I would say this qualifies as a fairly ignorant statement.
