I think you nailed it. It's not awful, but so formalic that after a night of watching Community or Parks & Rec or even shows like New Girl it seems like a big step backwards creativity-wise. I don't mind the show, but I have a right to be annoyed by people who think it's "brilliant and hilarious" No, it's not. It's…

I gotta say here how impressed I am with this show. The analogy is tired, but it really does swing for the fences every week. Sometimes it connects with me, sometimes it doesn't. But man, it always tries to be creative and hilarious and weird and amazing. That's greatness, even if it fails sometimes.

Those were awesome moments. I don't know about a mentor/tutor relationship (too similar) but as a kick ass team: yes please.
Have you ever seen an excited cucumber?
It's going to be pretty epic.
Also side note on the script: I loved the weird non-traditional sports story ending.
The two of them have had great chemistry since episode 1 (it honestly kept the shaky few first episodes grounded) but now I'm enjoying the nuances the other relationships are bringing (Korra and bending bro's and now Lin).
I'd sort of love it if he just followed me around, narrating my life. It's quiet enough that he wouldn't have to worry about wetting his pants from ninja attacks.
Haha I was pacing during the scene! Can't remember the last time a show had me so excited.
Equalists always land on their feet.
Too soon!
Pabu gotta eat.
Korra's KO punch on Tahon was my first HELL YEA fist pump moment of the series. Love the Linh-Tenzin relationship was confirmed, and already love the tension there. That final fight scene with Linh and Korra vs. the Equalists over the arena was AMAZING. First solid A episode for me since the premiere. Can't wait to…
Agreed. Smiley Time really set up the remainder of the season (and series) well. It was the last silly/sweet hurrah before shit got real.
I could honestly listen to those two bicker and whine all day. LOVE their interactions.
