Do you think the reason you are finding it so difficult to explain this, might be because you have totally invented it? Take a step back and ask yourself…It just sounds like you don't think rape should ever be depicted in media, ever, which is obviously stupid censorship.

Andrea, if you think that, that is in your head, it's not their fault. The show does not do that heavy lifting for. YOU are the one that finds rape sexy. If your reaction to those scenes was "Man, this is sexy", than obviously you're the one who likes rape.

Do yourself a favour and keep that "she was participating, sort of, so it's not rape" stuff to yourself. When a woman is begging you to stop and trying to fight you off, it doesn't magically make it not rape anymore when she eventually gives in and stops resisting.

That was the past. Things have changed. She despises him now and he knows it.

Dude, you don't think it's in character for a man to stop other men from raping a woman but still be a rapist himself? It makes perfect sense: he's selfish. Sort of a "nobody beats my wife but ME" type thing. You think in real life a rapist would just let other dudes rape women he knows or his sister or something

Why is rape so sacred and murder, torture, mutilation etc. is not?

Were you being sarcastic about the Melfi thing? That rape was a majorly important plot point that led to a huge arc for her which involved wrestling with her own morality re: whether or not to sick Tony on him and how the justice system failed her so maybe she should turn to Tony's justice… how is it pointless?

That's what's bizarre about this being framed as an example of misogyny. If anything the showrunners are being MORE responsible about it then GRRM was, in that they make it clear it's rape instead of that whole "Yeah she forced himself on her and she was resisting but she eventually gave in so that makes it ok" thing

Seriously, do people think rapists are totally cool with other guys raping their girlfriends/wives/sisters just because they themselves rape other women? Of course not.

Even so, IMO, no matter what age you are, if you are sold into a forced marriage whatever happens between you and the husband is then rape.

How is he an asshole? He is an extremely caring person who has incredible self awareness for his age. He thinks at the moment he meets his father that his alcoholism and carefree nature is a serious, deeply ingrained genetic issue that is going to haunt him for the rest of his life and hurt those around him. He is

Purple wedding because it's the royal wedding, and purple is the colour of royalty.

Saying "if you strip away the action it's a soap" is like saying "If you strip away the comedy from Dumb and Dumber, it's basically a drama". Yeah, if you completely change something it probably would become something completely different than what it actually is.

You're gonna need to argue your case for why it's a soap opera. It has way too many elements never found in soap operas to be considered one… action sequences, large scale battles/war, adventuring/travel…It's not a soap opera by any definition, it's a fantasy drama. This has nothing to do with which gender it's being

Right, but there was a huge internet movement to have him cast as Ramsay before any of that happened. I'm sure that's why he was chosen.

I don't think so. She's just wearing a very small brown bikini type thing. I admit it looked like it at first but I went back and watched a couple times and I don't think so,.

I agree…I'm not very impressed with Rheon's performance although I liked him in Misfits. That's what happens when you let the fans make casting decisions.

Merely being a drama does not make it a soap opera… It has little in common with soap operas.

He's like Ralph Ciferetto in that regard, although I guess Ralph liked the torture being done to him, but he certainly wasn't above killing a hooker. In fact, they even look alike.

Agreed, how could it be exposition when we were already told long ago that he was Aemon Targaryan from King's Landing? It was a zinger as you say.
