Unfortunately there are many people out there that saying they had half a brain would be giving them too much credit.

I know you'll never break the core of the Westboro people, but an assassination would just make them martyrs in the eyes of some.

I've noticed some off my pretty hardcore Catholic relatives really take a more accepting view of the LGBT community in the past ten years on account of people like this.

I'd usually agree with that sentiment, but I think this actually works against the Westboro folks. I doubt they are swaying any rational human beings to their way of thinking, and are really just making what they preach against seem more acceptable.
