I do think that if you're a civilian who wants to carry, you have a moral responsibility to be highly competent and to constantly improve, or at least maintain, your marksmanship. Especially considering that you can train VERY effectively at home for free by practicing with an empty gun.
Just want to share my perspective on the commonly held view that police officers and veterans are highly trained in firearms just by virtue of their occupation.

You're taking my argument, overgeneralizing it, and then attacking a consequence of the overgeneralized argument, which I never advanced in the first place. My friend, that is the very definition of a straw man.
