You can't argue that this show is "objectively mediocre".  When I think of mediocre television, I think of The Big Bang Theory.  The Office is still way higher in quality than most of reality television or laugh-track sitcoms.  It's not graduating magna cum laude but it's at least in the tenth percentile.

It's a very obvious joke.  The type of joke that probably 20% of people have developed independently.  People on the Internet love accusing others of plagiarism for the least relevant shit.
