Another trivia point: it's where Brix Smith of the Fall got her name. Apparently, she was a major Clash fanatic.

How can they be a cult band if they've sold so many damn records? You're selling them short. I think even recent records have charted well. That Rush in Rio concert seems to have hundreds of thousands of people there. They are just an extremely successful, still artistically viable, long running arena rock band. I

I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?

Used to have it on video tape, for laughts, watching it now it seems pitiful. There are you tube commenters who, even now, think it is real, even though it was completely debunked weeks after it was aired.

yeah found it…duh

What!?!?!?! Nothing about hosting Alien Autopsy? His greatest role, fer sure.

I see what you did there…

yeah. They hold water alright. Toilet water!

A rare Chickenfoot cd…that's some shit!

Originality counts for something, doesn't it? Pavement made plenty of Pavement sounding music. Why do we need more?

@avclub-e9d79d0f065f5024633536f633478615:disqus  I concede nothing of the sort! I think the album is not well put together and is not particularly original or well played. Certainly not even close to one of the best albums of the decade. Compare it to any PJ Harvey album from that period for perspective. It IS classic

@avclub-e9d79d0f065f5024633536f633478615:disqus Exile in Guyville is up there with KInd Of Blue and Pet Sounds? Really? And you call my opinions "eccentric"? Lots of shitty things top lots of shitty lists. It proves nothing.

I do comment about things I like, in this very thread I repped for the Love and Rockets story they took their name from. But if comments are always positive, it gets into me-too ism, which is just as bad as constant negativity.
And the idea that Liz Phair is not completely discredited by this point does get my goat a

Exile in Guyville is terrible and was not universally loved at the time it was released. I don't know how it has evolved into a "classic". It was a little controversial because she talked a little dirty on it. Phair never even made another competent album and it became clear she was using the indie scene to go major.

It is a "comments" section, right? Is there something else that should be going on here?

way to tell that you are young "I only like new music that sounds like old music!"

C'mon..really? She's terrible. And a lot of other people have used "clean guitars", it seems like a stretch.

He's right about Priscilla, completely underrated as a film. And the The Limey might be Soderbergh's best. Such a cool flim, the tone, the structure…totally great.

He gave his name to one of the great story arcs in the series "the Death of Speedy Ortiz".    NIce write-up about it here: http://www.haresrocklots.co…

Liz Phair is an "influence"? That can't be good. Have things really gotten that bad in indie rock land?
