Not to mention, @avclub-e576423831e043f7928d9ac113abbe6f:disqus, the cretinous ends toward which our tax dollars are often directed.

I must admit, the Varg Vikernes Advent calendar is pretty cute.

Spare me such side-eyes: the festival's the thing.  Hell, if I'd been a 3rd-century Christian, I like to think I'd have been human enough to enjoy parts of Saturnalia and Lupercalia (w/in reasonable limits).

Even China's not that plausible (and I'm the guy who contends that Milius' USSR scenario wasn't total glue-huffing insanity). Dropping a nuke on L.A. or S.F.?  As absolute worst-case near-future scenarios go, that's not 100% unbelievable.  But the Chinese have never shown the remotest interest in invading and exerting

The abbreviated "Mili" (with long final i would also work okay.  But wait—what if it's third-declension?  In that case, my guess would be "Milioris."

I wasn't aware that getting angry over conspiracy theories was a conservative franchise, @avclub-26e0639dcc946d94c1cd6b35e610af55:disqus—you're starting to sound like a particularly foamy talk-radio host!

Many artists that are widely considered "intelligent" aren't.  They're merely intelligent compared to the bulk of their peers—which might be setting the bar none too high.  And if there's one population segment for whom conspiracy theories are tailor-made, it's folks who are JUST intelligent enough to hurt themselves.

@paraclete_pizza:disqus, a knowledgeable Russophile once told me that over there, "it's only the cranks who believe in lone gunmen."  Thanks to the country's rich history of actual governmental conspiracies and so-smart-it's-stupid skullduggery, crazy notions like faked moon landings, introducing crack to minorities,
