The iota of recantment is appreciated. I agree it was hokily written, and could have used a little more finess. However, the immediacy of opening up is not so strange given the stregnth of their relationship at that point in the film. I once had a very difficult client who was stubborn and impossible for 4 months.

not as nonsensensical as one might think
As someone else said earlier, showing therapy in a movie can be problematic because a) much of therapy occurs after the climactic scene, and b) insight is usually acheived a little at a time, over long periods.

after Gracie Law says she her face will be recognized if she tries to infiltrate, she says, "I'd go but…" and Jack Burton finishes, "there's a problem with your face, I know."
