Going to miss this show a lot, and these 2 eps were a great send-off.  Any sitcom specific enough to diss Pimm's Cups (delicious but pretentious) is ok by me.

This show really doesn't get enough recognition here in the States (although come to think of it, I don't have any idea how it was received when it first aired, either).  At any rate, I welcome these reviews, and would advise people just starting the show to give it a few episodes to grow - I think it's

Well clearly I'm not being *that* cautious, since the first one I started with was "Battlefield".  Starting with the season that finally got them canceled is a good move, right?

I'm just beginning on Classic Who, so while I doubt I will have much to contribute here I just wanted to say that I'm enjoying these write-ups and am glad they're back for the summer.  Gives me a good idea of where to start, although I dread the distant day when I'm hooked on the show but only have the disreputable

No snark intended, but does anyone else get the feeling that the Rebecca part was originally written for someone younger than Uma Thurman?  I think she's doing fine with it, it's just that the writing would make more sense for an ingenue type - that would better explain the clubbing and tabloids subplot, as well as

And for "Smash" discussion thread completionists, here's Alice Playten, who was like fifth billed (or possibly lower?) in "Henry, Sweet Henry" but apparently stole the show thanks to massive (but arguably inessential) numbers like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watc…

Oh sorry, I thought this was a safe space for theater people.

Maybe it was still thinking of the "pop music on Broadway" trend that "Hair" helped kick off?

The Bollywood number was just "Smash" embracing the proud theatrical tradition of the completely irrelevant showstopper.  It was their equivalent of "Turkey Lurkey Time" or anything Alice Playten did in "Henry, Sweet Henry".

Yeah, what are the odds of ABC turning "I touched it through bike shorts" into a popular catchphrase?

I'm also sad to see Grant/Wolk go so soon.  Early last season some of the Max stuff seemed a little forced, but now it's great to see them getting comic mileage from a gay relationship without neutering it or making a lot of fanfare about how progressive they're being.  It's already a funny show, I'm not saying it has

I'll admit that this episode had its flaws, but I'm more than willing to let good intentions and the Karofsky plot be the trump card here. Speaking as a 26-year-old from the midwest who is still working on coming out, I cannot even imagine seeing something like this on TV when I was in high school.  It may seem

And why would that be the number that convinces them he's "perfect" for their khaki-wearing, milquetoast take on DiMaggio?

"I think he's in that Bruno Mars show."  No line on TV this season will make me laugh harder.

The more I think about it, it was smart of the writers to establish that Sugar isn't a very good singer.  It's a way to introduce a new character without spreading out the solos any more than they already do (I liked Zises in small doses, but the one misconceived solo she got was superfluous at best).  Sugar can

I actually kind of liked Sugar in this episode.  The running joke about her hiding Artie's presents in inconvenient locations was a good one.  It does seem weird that they've kept her around, though - I can't see that character factoring into any serious storylines or subplots anytime soon.
