I wasn't a huge fan of the original New Universe, but I will say this: it gave us the original Valiant universe.
Whether Shooter is a decent guy in person or not, Valiant (and the idea of a cohesive timeline that moved in, essentially, real time and the idea of 'real world' physics) was what kept me reading through

Maybe I'm just slow, but last night was the first time I caught that Moira's lawyer was Jean Loring. Now I'm hoping the particle accelerator that will end up creating the Flash will be worked on by Ray Palmer.
I'm also now wondering if the stuff Ivo is looking for is somehow related to Hourman's Miraclo, since the CW

I couldn't figure out if it was the "fucking ghost" or the "y'all" that set it off for me, but I lost it at that point.

The facial expressions between Sam and Dean when Sam holds up the Game of Thrones squirrel were priceless.

For some reason, I never even caught Blood's first name, so when the reveal came, I knew he was bad, but it didn't hit me he was Brother Blood until then (I'd avoided all spoilers over the summer.) I'm wondering the stuff he was injecting into the Mayor has something to do with the League of Assassin's leader, Ra's Al

Well, not everyone can be as proactive as Los Gatos, or whatever they were called.

I saw someone up this thread mention how dumb it was that he didn't like doing that job, since it was an essential job, but I can completely understand that. It's a human trait that it seems so many of the characters lack, or at least never mention. It would be completely different randomly stabbing things face to

It's absolutely worth reading, because it and the movie are completely different animals. So is his first book, The Zombie Survival Guide.
I have to admit though, I laughed when you said you can't get into 'graphic novels' on a review of a show based on a comic that gained it's popularity through trade paperbacks, or

I know what we're going to do today, Ferb. Eat people!

That wouldn't surprise me. Dead bodies are known to have diseases if not taken care of. That was one of the things I actually liked about Stephen King's The Stand. They specifically pointed out the bacteria that grows on decomposing bodies and that they needed to be dealt with. Zombie stories never seem to mention

T-Dogg was a goddamn saint! I heard he single handedly rescued all the elderly in Atlanta.

That's my thing! My thing that I say!

"I'm so sorry. I've never done this before! Was that okay for you?"

Patrick shook hands with Daryl. How is it he didn't get some sort of magical immunity? I mean, it worked for Carol. Just being around Messiah Daryl for a little while was enough to buy her the time to develop a personality besides, "We have to find my daughter!"  Patrick might have become interesting. Now he's just a

Why can't we smoke?

"Yes… Yes, it is."
Nice, subtle, Phineas reference there.  You have warmed my heart for the day.

As Against the Grain is still one of my favorite albums, and you mentioned the Vandals and the Descendants, I will be following this column through.

Distaff, dat staff, why everybody got a staff but me?

If you want more Richard Ayoade, track down Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (I think all 6 episodes are up on YouTube,) and if you like him in that, check out Man to Man with Dean Learner.

I forgot about David being covered in soap for both books.  The parallels were interesting, especially with Johnny the 'serious' writer in Desperation becoming Johnny the children's author in Regulators.
