I had completely forgotten "Hammond Lumbah!" Once I finally left the area for college I started hearing that "If you want to spend more on yo'ah used cah, that's yo'ahhhh business. If you want to spend less, that's ahhhhh business!" line everywhere but its never quite the same without that weird downeast drawl.

There were a bunch of bassists on Graceland, but I think the one you're thinking of is Bakihti Kumalo who played some incredible fretless bass on most of the opening numbers on the album. I couldn't tell you another record he ever played on though, it seems like he just disappeared which is really a shame. Nice call
