I had completely forgotten "Hammond Lumbah!" Once I finally left the area for college I started hearing that "If you want to spend more on yo'ah used cah, that's yo'ahhhh business. There were a bunch of bassists on Graceland, but I think the one you're thinking of is Bakihti Kumalo who played some incredible fretless bass on most of the opening numbers on the album.
