When Cersei confronts Tyrion about it, Tyrion says "It's done", which makes sense given the Lannisters are outnumbered by Renly and have been beaten in the field by Robb. An alliance with House Martell of Dorne would give them a new army.

Well in this episode we learned that Tyrion is working on this problem. Of the major houses in Westeros, Robb has the support of Stark and Tully (Catelyn Stark's house), Renly has (most of) Baratheon and Tyrell and Joffrey has the Lannisters.
