Lots of Animal Collective. Went back to Painting With after the "Kinda Bonkers" track from the upcoming EP dropped.
My favorite novel, for sure. Some of the sentences Fitzgerald is able to string together are just crushing.
I know a lot of people rip Paul Banks for his lyrics, and yeah, there are definitely some doozies in their catalogue, but the lyrics for "The New" have always been some of my favorite.
I also just started DS9 for the first time. Finished the first season last night — really enjoying it so far. The first season, for me, seems a bit mediocre but I haven't binged anything in awhile, so I actively look forward to watching each time I'm able to. Knowing it gets really good (or so I've heard) helps.
I'm gone — I left flowers for you there…
Man, unpopular opinion, but I think the self-titled is underrated. "Safe Without" might be their worst song, for sure, but the closing suite of "Try It On"/"All of the Ways"/"The Undoing" is great. Plus you have "Barricade" and "Success", and even "Lights" for that matter. People need to come around on this album…
Halloween III is so underrated. The score alone elevates the movie. Love that flick and look forward to AMC playing it 33 times every Halloween.
Saw another poster talking about Donald Ray Pollock's The Devil All the Time, which has been on my reading list forever, and which I finally picked up. I read it in three days. Pollock's terse and dirty style made for an involving read, and the cast of characters, while mostly awful human beings, were still realized…
Hyperion is so good. I read it over Christmas break a few years back, and while I was supposed to be "hosting" a Christmas party, I intermittently slipped back to my bedroom to keep reading the book instead. I couldn't put it down.
There are some really great songs on there. Maybe you mentioned this, but what chain do you work at? Just curious.
Dan and Blair 4eVa.
Wanted to comment on the same thing. He had the newest wave from Marvel Legends!
This is one of my favorite threads.
I've been all about Frostbite from Foothills Brewery this past week. A black IPA that's not too hoppy and not too dark. It's just right.
I think "Brainy" is my favorite National song.
You're the magic that holds the sky up from the ground…
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Donovan Said
Cold Showers - BC
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Open Heart Surgery
Soft Kill - I'm Beside You
The Shins - Girl On the Wing
Soft Kill - Whirl
The Smiths - That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
The Mary Onettes - Silence Is a Gun
I'm reading Straight Man by Richard Russo right now and I've been cracking up. Dry, maybe a bit of bleak humor, but definitely funny.
Roadside Picnic is one of my favorites.
