Moonstruck
Bring me the big knife!

That is so weird, Bunny Lake is being sent to us from Netflix today…what a coinkydink.

Moo
by Jane Smiley. I've read it twice, made me cry at the end both times.

Gotta go with Nathan on this one, Boogie Nights is endlessly rewatchable. A classic. Magnolia, not so much…

For what it's worth
"Did You See Me Coming?" is a perfect description of how I met my partner of the last 10 years. They've truly been the soundtrack of my life.

Yeah, the year and four days thing was my bad. I did look it up (forget where I found it), and the date was April 10, 2008. In hindsight, that did seem too long ago, but the way weeks and months fly by, I guess it seemed reasonable.

Did I ever say she was Jesus? "Someone like her" meant a young, gifted, unsure woman, so spare me the straw man argument. I guess I just don't always have enough of the cynic in me to enjoy the cavalier evaluation of American pop culture. So sue me.

Clay is gay the way that Barry Manilow is gay: The boys know, but only my Aunt Denise wants to touch him.

Ok, if we're talking about her experience level, I can agree somewhat. I think she's a very hesitant performer, and she's not a good actress. She lucked into the role of a lifetime in Dreamgirls, and was god-awful in Sex and the City.

Oh, and "hella?" Really?

Now this is getting silly. Psychoanalyzing her into "When she's on Idol, it seems to me that she's thinking about Idol." washes better?

It seems clear we could be on the verge of the first openly gay American Idol in the show's short history. I think he's a good, but not great, vocalist. His biggest advantage is his total understanding of theatrical stagecraft. Think of Elton John, Queen, or even George Michael. That boy knows.

clearly? probably? You get the point.

Well, actually.

Well, I guess someone has to point this out…
"It's the first time back since she won an Oscar and a Grammy and I sensed a tiny bit of a chip on her shoulder about her elimination. Then again, she just might not have her own patter honed—she seemed kind of awkward onstage with Ryan after her performance."

This
turned out to be easier than I thought:

"I can always get more toast!"

I agree with you about Are you Being Served & Fawlty Towers. When my partner got the DVDs for FT, we watched a few and I absolutely could not get what the big deal was. Even he admitted in retrospect that it hadn't aged well. AbFab is another story entirely. The writing was much smarter, satirical, and still

So, get a region free DVD player. I got a perfectly good Panasonic for $50, and ordering from Amazon UK is easy. It will come in handy for a lot of foreign DVDs

Well, that's a clarification from what you posted originally, though no less dickish. Yes, I know such communities exist, how does my advice to get a region free player conflict with that?
