April Foo—oh, never mind, he's just an asshole.

More pointless than this? Naahhhh.

I see what you did there.

Nah, they're not worried about that—she was ASKING for it, obviously. They just, you know, don't want their millions of kids to ask for it.

*slow clap*

Six seasons and a movie? I think I might be getting some wires crossed.

He played a show at my college's student union (university of florida) a few years ago, something of a homecoming for him since he's from Gainesville. Showed up with an acoustic guitar, chatted our ears off (in the best way), and then hung out for well over an hour afterward mingling with everyone. Great stuff.

John Vanderslice, goddamn what a great artist. Criminally underrated.

Good tune. So is One Way Trigger. Experiment onward, boys.

Some "young people" make the rest of us look moronic by default.

I would be completely on board with this.

No one got an advance copy of this album, which was part of my original point. (Though I suppose I didn't say that explicitly.)

I'm for cross-genre mash-ups all over this list but man I really want to see a killer guitar band cover "Just"

After a few listens I can say that I'm really enjoying this, but damn, how can you guys have a full review already? I know, I know, this is the internet, quick turn-around time, etc. It's a good enough review, though I wonder what the consensus on this record will be a) in a couple weeks and b) at the end of the year.

Guys these Parks and Rec criticisms are breaking my heart THEY'RE BREAKING MY HEART I TELL YOU

Holy shit, teen-mom stalker over here.

"Breakers" sounded nothing like Gorilla Manor, and was fittingly anthemic. A little darker, yes (kudos to Aaron Dessner of The National for that; weird that his presence as producer/fifth member wasn't mentioned), but it still swells. I haven't yet listened to the rest of the album, but I'm taking this review with a

I like this a lot. 80s pop? Sounds about right. As others have noted, they've always been indebted to that sound/era. As far as experiments with that sound go, this sounds better than those off Angles (eg Games), and is more in line with Julian's solo album (which is goddamn underrated).

"Two could be complete without the rest of the world" / Oh, you know I said it just to get you to laugh

The twist was just cheap. Authorial games, nothing more. That's what irritated me about it, and that kind of ruined the second half of the book for me, despite the addictive nature of it all.
