This episode underscored the biggest problem I have with The Following: Joe Carroll is a poorly-written oxymoron of a character.

Does anyone remember when Jerry was constantly dating gorgeous women on Seinfeld, and the show would make a point of joking about how absurd that was? Ted's love life has totally become that minus pointing out the absurdity. This has always been HIMYM's problem: they never know when to stop beating a dead horse.
This was a mediocre finale to a mediocre season. And the ending takes the "let's all shit on Dee" theme to a whole new level; no one would take that much abuse in stride.

I feel like I'm getting to that point myself. The whole Barney-Robin-Ted-Victoria thing is just going around in circles again. It's totally played out, and the comedy is suffering.

They didn't quite remember "to give all the good guys an active part to play"… I didn't see Joseph or Ruth the whole episode.

I'm glad they did away with the flashbacks, toned down the dysfunctional family nonsense, and made a bold attempt at telling an interesting story with the (SPOILER) downing of Air Force One. I sort of wished they would have finished telling the story, but…
