That's hit the nail on the head I think. I would argue that perhaps the same thing is true of Battlestar Galactica to a certain extent, although perhaps not so much as Lost. Using All Along the Watchtower really seemed like one of this things that was inserted without them really knowing where it was going.

yeah I was going to suggest this myself, definitely worth a look, it starts a little ropey  but by season 3 it gets really quite good (the seasons are only about 6 episodes long).

Yeah +1 for Utopia, really creepy and distinctive show, great stuff. I'd also recommend the Shadow Line, it's a quite surreal and dark cop drama, very atmospheric. Garth Marengi, Black Mirror and BrassEye are all amazing too,,,,,, really not sure what Eastenders is doing in there though! :)

Only 22?  :)

Yeah seconded, Hoffman is fantastic in this, you never really know whats real and whats an act. So he acts like a total prick in the meeting, everyone thinks the kid is screwed because he pissed Ace off so much, but then you get the little smirk as he leaves,, moving pawns around indeed.

Hands appeared everywhere in this episode, Escalante holding his hand out for 'his opinion' on a horse then later him telling the gamblers to keep their hands open, and the weirdly 'last supper'-esque shot of them standing there with hands aloft. There was a lovely cut from Escalente and the vet holding hands, to the
