Shakespeare in Love is an OK film. But forget Saving Private Ryan, The Truman Show (miles better than both Shakespeare in Love and Saving Private Ryan) didn't even get a Best Film nomination that year.

Wasn't sure the film as a whole was quite my thing, but loved that bit, as well as the crazy tramp and the scary father picking up his daughter from the party.

I'd say One More Step And You Die or You Are There

1. Give them a try anyway
2. Start with the Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada EP. Two tracks, just under half an hour in total, works as a nice introduction.

I like Mono and Explosions in the Sky a lot, but Godspeed's discography blows them out of the water. And they're probably the least formulaic of all the most well-known 'post-rock' bands.

Considering your comments about an act you claim to like, I hate to see what you'd say about an act you hated.

Yeah, but those acts aren't Godspeed. I do like A Silver Mt Zion though I feel the last two records have been a bit patchy (Born into Trouble… remains my favourite). Not sure why that is, I know a lot of people have issues with Efrim's vocals on the last couple of albums, but I don't mind them.

On early listens, this is fantastic. I can't say it's anything startlingly different to what Godspeed have done before, but when it sounds this good I don't really care.

Admittedly I got that info off the film's Wikipedia page with no citation - I guess it's the sort of thing they might do though.

They did release it under the Touchstone Pictures banner rather than under Walt Disney Pictures. Reading the film's wiki page, it seems like they had reservations but Zemeckis had final cut.

Marcia Gay Harden, saving us from a world where Kate Hudson is an Oscar winner.
