So AV club is doing Friends for TV classic but won't continue with Cheers.

Was I really supposed to feel all warm and cuddly for Dwight in this episode when he cruely fired Toby for no apparent reason?
Not only that, Darryl's "You did good Andy" near the end was identical to Sam's last words to Rebecca: "You did good Rebecca."
That analysis talks a lot about point of view.
"Not that I'm thinking about your pants sir!"
"I would dress up like a hooker to get some of this stuff."
"You know what the Coach said about the afterlife: 'Hope there aren't any stairs'"
"Looks like '4A Painting' is costing me an A-A-A-A fortune"
"You're starting to stutter too."
The final episode may have been overstuffed to accomodate advertisers (it ran nearly two hours) but those final 20 minutes or so with the gang talking about life and smoking cigars is just one of the most beautiful things ever. For the die hard Cheers fan here; the final scene:
That scene is gut bustingly funny. I also love that Al has the buzzer at the end: "Dance mailman!"
Funny thing is, everytime I hear the word Kale I immediately go "I like it!' and nobody has any clue what the hell I'm talking about.
"One penny! I had the most pathetic day of my life, over….one penny"
I think Seinfeld is the funniest show ever. When Seinfeld was in its prime, nothing else, ever, could touch it.
Right. I also think the writers were smart enough to know that Diane (an independent, intelligent woman) would never go out with a guy who was a jerk or treated her like crap. This is a show where the writers respected the characters. Frasier (on a surface level anyway) was perfect for her.
It's also the episode where Cliff gets angry that the gang loves the new trivia napkins when for years they ignored Cliff's own trivia.
Cliff: What happened? Where did everyone go?
Norm: Oh, there was a bomb threat.
Cliff: Really? where?
Norm: Right about where you were standing.
For the big Cheers fans here, Cheers former writer Ken Levine did a great blog post (with pictures) on the Cheers 30 year anniversary get together held back in October (which most of the shows major players, actors, directors, and writers attended).
That was another reason the writers on Cheers were so great. A lesser show would have made Diane's new love interest a jerk so that the audience would immediately root for Sam to get her back. However, Frasier (while pompous) was imbued with humanity from the very beginning. He was a real character and not simply…
"Like most immigrants, he was a human being."
Anton!
