Can I ask why? I was really looking forward to it, but in the end I thought it wasted its interesting premise by reducing it to a metaphor that didn't make sense.

I think my favourite callback was Chang miming his "Hah, gaaaaay" call in the background. Totally missed it the first time I watched it.

I think it's mainly to discourage this comment section from becoming too much like the reddit system, where dominant opinions get upvoted to the top and unpopular opinions get banished into downvote exile. This often stifles the conversation, because you will always hear the same "safe" opinions and ideas, and more

*Vague structure spoilers*

I will love this show unconditionally until it passes, at which point I will drink a bottle of wine from a vase, and mourn for a week.

Although I haven't watched all of it, I've always thought Downton Abbey's chief problem was one of tone. It has two main modes of plot: melodrama and period piece. The melodrama can be fun when it's played as campy, and the period piece can be effective if taken seriously. However, the more I watched, the more it felt

2012 was by far the worst year of my life, and even though 2013 just cleared that low bar, it gave me a lot of perspective about how to continue without giving up completely. I hope that 2014 allows you to reach that point too.

Sometimes I wonder if I overrate influence as a deciding factor of something's quality. Sure, if something is "the first" to do something, or is the reason that a certain style or concept becomes ingrained in the cultural mindset, that is important. But I think that I'm growing less worried with shows, bands or movies

Mixology has my vote. Not only does it balance a darker tone with great jokes, but it has Paul F Tompkins AND Tig Notaro as guests.

I think Clare Danes is just trying to extricate some underwear which has travelled North for the winter.

B+

Me too. These days I only watch the show if I see a good grade on TV Club, and while I wouldn't say I thought this was A material, there were parts I really enjoyed. The zombie invasion of Santa's home and the shot of Phil disappearing were great, as was the reveal of Luke's speech at the end.

Especially after hearing Harmon's rants about Inception on that one episode of Harmontown.

I totally agree. I love Doctor Who as a whole. I feel like my preference for RTD is simply because it has been years since I saw his version, and Moffat's flaws are the ones that I'm currently being annoyed by.

I've forgotten who coined the term, but it's a problem of trying to "awesomise" everything.

(magic wands)

I'm sure with some creative googling that could be arranged.

It's a bit like in Doctor Who when the Doctor sometimes can, and sometimes cannot, use his magic wand to do any random task.

Did you see the pool? They FLIPPED the bitch!

This is another success story that proves I have no idea how things get popular. I mean, to me the music is all right (nothing particularly special or catchy), but she's obviously become a huge international deal, which I don't really get. Is it her age? Is it the same slightly dubby aspect that bands like Imagine
