Especially considering it's one of Saul's burners- it's unlikely he'd set up a voice mail password.  He just chucked it at the kid and got rid of him, though it may have killed the drama if Saul spent a few minutes going over the phone's features.  Might make for a fun deleted scene though.

I never thought about it that way, but it makes a lot of sense.  Walt's pride and expectations to get what he "deserves" probably took a hit when his son was diagnosed.  Couple that with his disgust at his dying father's ailment and eighteen years of worrying about his son's health and future, and I can see him

It depends.  Hotels follow a weird bell curve when it comes to the quality of breakfast.
Shitball motels, e.g Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Crystal Palace- no breakfast whatsoever
High end hotels- e.g. Hilton or Wherever Walt is Staying - no complimentary breakfast and/or coffee & toast, $12.00 for scrambled eggs
