Sounds like David Gordon Green wanting desperately to be Jeff Nichols.  I know its based on earlier source material, but the storyline sounds way too close to Nichols' wonderful film Mud.  I can't imagine Gordon Green approaching this material with the same talent and tact as Nichols would.
