Yeah, I think that might have elicited a weak chuckle from me.

@avclub-da518aecddbf5c94588f53562012c452:disqus We're going to see very, very soon whether taking away the unifying vision and keeping the writers' room works for "The Daily Show".

A non sequitur cut to Pierce in his Captain Kirk costume fighting a giant lizard would have saved that sequence.

It's weird. Outside of this show, Alison Brie is one of the hottest women ever to me. But when this show is on, I have next to no interest in Annie and totally crush on Britta.

"Felt" was the only episode of "Community" I've ever stopped watching midway through. I was interrupted by something and I just never bothered to even try to finish it.

Donald Glover and Gillian Jacobs deserve better than what they've been having to work with for the past year or two on this show.

Season 1 > Season 2 >>> Season 3 >> Season 4.

Every time that episode cut to the B-plot, I groaned. That and the half-brother being an obnoxious creep that we're apparently supposed to sympathize with were what kept that episode (which had very strong character beats for Jeff and Britta and really nailed Jeff's dad) from being an A.

Watch "Herstory of Dance". You might also consider watching "Basic Human Anatomy", "Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations", and maybe "Paranormal Parentage".

Completely agree. I don't understand the Season 3 nostalgia. It did produce a few strong episodes, including one of my top ten in "Digital Estate Planning", but the characterizations were inconsistent, the Chang plot was dreadful, and it had a few legitimately bad (not just boring or mediocre, but bad) episodes.

I actually thought "Paranormal Parentage" was one of the better outings this season, not that that's saying a whole lot. It was too obvious and the set design was woeful, but at least it had a few decent gags.

This was the "Profit and Lace" of "Community".

I'd give it a C on balance. Then again, I skipped a couple of the episodes after reading the dire reviews, and I actually turned off "Felt Surrogacy" midway through the second pointless and time-wasting musical number.

They're copying the wrong things.

Show peaked for me in the second half of Season 1 and first half of Season 2 (there were still brilliant episodes after "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas", including some of my favorites in "AD&D" and "PoHM", but I thought that one was where the show jumped the shark), so I pretty much agree with you. And "English as a

I hardly remember anything about that episode. I seem to recall it feeling like wasted potential. And the Chang Dynasty subplot was so grating.

Great list. "The Science of Illusion" is too often overlooked.

I agree. Without Harmon in the picture, the writers' room really seemed to struggle to find that balance, and Joel McHale seemed less certain of how to play the character than he has in past seasons.

Before even touching the inane construction of having a potential series finale be two-thirds dream sequence, let's review the plot problems:

1. "Herstory of Dance" - A-
2. "Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations" - B
3. "Paranormal Parentage" - B
4. "Basic Human Anatomy" - B
5. "Economics of Marine Biology" - B-
6. "Heroic Origins" - C+
7. "History 101" - C
