@Mad Mardicus

Going to go out on a limb here and announce that the second Phantom Planet record ("The Guest") is fantastic. Believe me, I wanted to hate it at first. But truth be told, it's a great collection of songs. Crisp production, inventive arrangements and concise, smart lyrics. And Schwartzmann's drumming is rock solid.

Am I allowed to have thoroughly enjoyed the trailer and then had my buzz killed (sorry sean) by the supercuts ad at the end that i COULDN'T FUCKING TURN OFF??? I mean, did I, in my rage at being sold to, just miss the ability to make it stop? Otherwise, hey, that movie looks funny and charming in all the right ways.

I can also play the guitar, and let me tell you all about it!

His name is listed second on the credits page they flash up there for an instant at the end. So it seems safe to assume he's got a pretty featured role in this. Also, I agree with previous posters as regards the potential awesomeness of this film.

I haven't been interested in "Funny People" based on the trailers—it looks a little weepier than I like my comedies to be; plus Adam Sandler—ugh. But I must admit that reading this interview makes me want to see it, to have an open mind and go with Apatow on this one, because I really like what he has to say about

O'Neal, you're a genius.
And this story makes me weep for the future.

"HIS Indie World," for the record. This was also the first song I thought of.

"demands it of us to do better."

Okay then! I am officially happy that there's apparently a slew of new old material coming down the pike. And maybe even some new NEW material! thanks for filling me in, everyone.

This is one of my all time favorite bands, and when I saw the name on the main page, I had a brief, fleeting hope that maybe there was something new being released. A live album, some outtakes, anything. So I am sad for me personally, but thrilled if this comp gets more people loving this band.

Spread: Everybody's Thighs.

Let me be the first to say:
Ha ha, I crack myself up. A firstie on a ten year old movie that no one liked! And no one will ever see this comment! HA HA, IT IS TO LAUGH.

Nathan, I think it's also worth noting that the Louvins' records, particularly Tragic Songs, have a pretty muscular backbeat that makes the songs rock a little more than you'd expect them to. You mentioned "Let Her Go, God Bless Her" in the piece, but you might also have included "I'll Be All Smiles Tonight" as an

I'm actually more interested in the Adam Shankman version of The Wire. Tasha, would he be shoehorning Katee and Joshua in there somehow? (I mean, obviously, Twitch is gonna be Stringer Bell.)

I picked this up last week.
I'm about a hundred pages in, and so far, it's great. Couldn't agree more with the high grade. The early chapters remind me a little bit of Where Dead Voices Gather, the Tosches book about blackface minstrels and such. I'm putting this up there with some of the best music writing I've

I was appointed, not elected.

Dear Internet,

Thank you. I shall remain vigilant.
