I pretty much did the same thing. Listened to Close Calls With Brick Walls before his other albums not expecting anything and was definitely pleasantly surprised by it.

I think in the 2000s they've come back around to being kinda genius again. But that could just be me. They're one of those rare bands where I know they've had their fair share of terrible albums over the years but for some reason I love them all anyway. Definitely the first band I thought of when I saw this.
