Yeah, I wouldn't have either - previous versions sucked in a focused and consistent way. But not being able to install non-work programs like Winamp meant I was lumbered with WMP 12, and it… didn't suck.

It does say 'Uninstall' rather than 'Delete' when you right-click it.

8.1.1 fixes most of that stuff (sounds like you're still on 8 somehow). That's the 'third version' that just about works; MS products often don't get useful until the third go round (Surface, Windows Phone).

The improvements to the file explorer and the Task Manager are nice in a 'why didn't they do that before?' kind of way. There's a decent admin menu when you right-click the Start button too.
