Milk and coffee! Oh my God, what a drink! It's milk and coffee, mixed together!

MY WHOLE EXISTENCE IS A LIE.

The Fauves wrote a great song about this phenomenon, titled
Everybody's Getting A Three Piece Together:

@avclub-7afe5ca4ab9834311e874dfc1124f077:disqus Thanks for the recommendations. I was in a real (!) bookstore today after work and the only Coupland book there was Generation A. Microserfs is at the top of my list and I'll pick it up if I ever see it.

Yeah, it was weird reading those two books back to back and having the same thing happen in both. It didn't really work in either story unfortunately.

The first third of JPod is sublime. The rest has it's moments but doesn't live up to the start. I've been wondering if I should try more of Coupland's work. Any recommendations?

As a resident of Tasmania, I can confirm that there is still plenty of misery to be found in this shithole. Comedic relief? Not so much.

Best book I've read this year so far is JPod. I know I know, but it was fun. Top spot would have been Breakfast of Champions which for the first two thirds or so is amazing, then Vonnegut decided to write himself into the story which killed the flow.

I read V earlier in the year, because I had read somewhere that you read V first, then read Gravity's Rainbow (I am about 100 pages into Gravity's Rainbow now), and did this because I take my orders from random people on the internet.

Infinite Jest is the only book I've fallen asleep while reading…twice! But that was in the first 300 pages which have some parts which are a chore to get through. About a third of the way in it became a much easier read and became a joy to read. I will definitely revisit it one day.

Do they qualify as "post-rock"? (Well does any band qualify as "post-rock" but that's been discussed elsewhere).

Mono got less interesting for me when they stopped aping Mogwai but they have released a handful of great records - One More Step And You Die and You Are There are their best i think. Moonlight may be the perfect "post-rock" song.

It took me about 50 listens before CODY finally clicked. It requires a lot of commitment. Mogwai are worth the time though. Mr Beast would be a good album to start with, then branch outwards.

Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada is my favorite. That nut talking over BBF3 makes me laugh every time but for that composition it totally works.

Totally agree. I've tried to get into their records but it is frustrating that nothing else they've done seems to be anywhere near as great as Indian Love Song. Ocean Songs is a solid album though.

I got into Tortoise via It's All Around You so I was late to the party. Crest is still my favorite Tortoise song by a long way.

I started at Mogwai, Happy Songs For Happy People. I know the band don't identify as post rock, but this record led me to a lot of amazing instrumental rock. From there it was the rest of their albums (is there any more perfect run of records like they had with Young Team through Hawk Is Howling? Amazing stuff.)

I've never bothered watching The Spy Who Loved Me either.

@avclub-7f1909495ef590046fdc4f001d246606:disqus Whoa there, let's not say anything we're going to regret. I can't comment on the quality of Titanic because I have never seen it, but True Lies is ridiculous overblown fun.

And I should have said this in my reply to @avclub-022199896b1f52952c180b60caa681bd:disqus , but Sylvania Waters was a
