But this is a little different - sports teams have budgets (3 of the 4 major leagues have a salary cap), and if they spend money on one player, they can't spend it on others. Film studios also have budgets, but unless you are a real insider, it's hard to know what might've gotten passed on in favor of something else.

I don't know, but your review makes it sound like one of those horrible Atari productions, like it's E.T.: The Game: The Gameshow.

Do you hate yourself deeply?  I imagine that's a prerequisite.

The point Rabin seemed to be making - that the man was doing drugs when he was saying this - is that it's not necessarily that the Gathering has gone 'downhill' (it may have) but that people's perceptions of a gathering like this tend to end up like this - 'it's not what it used to be' is a common refrain regarding a

Serious response incoming, but I imagine older people tend to go to movies more on word of mouth than advertising.  They're not going to be as plugged in to when a film is being released. I expect a lot of older people to be going to 'Hope Strings', 'Hotel Springs', or 'The One With The Guy From The Movie With

When you get into podcasting it becomes much more apparent.  Every fledgling comedian is on every other comedian's podcast.

The problem with this roast, aside from the canned one-liners that feel perfunctory (I find myself thinking 'that's a good joke' rather than laughing) is that Roseanne hasn't really been relevant since her show went off the air.  Sure, she's done some crazy things since then, but if the reaction shots give an accurate

I think there's some of that, and hey, if I were a really high-level athlete, I imagine I'd believe in God, too.  I mean, great athletes work their ass off to reach that point, but they're also starting from a gift of innate skill that most people cannot imagine.

Yeah, my problem with that show is the guests - a guest on JJH should typically not try to riff back, should try not to giggle or titter, and should answer his questions seriously.  The in-jokey-ness of these three was really bad.

No, it's a reference to that guy - I guess maybe it's an in-reference, that they don't know how this guy's doing either, but they figure it must be okay, since his name popped up on Family Guy?

I definitely saw this - I'm counting it as one of the times I saw the sketch in a non-Flying Circus place - but the Pythons were in their 50s and the sketch was at around midnight. Maybe they were actually just tired.  Plus they probably spent their Saturday listening to Lorne Michaels theorizing about comedy.
