That sounds like the exact one I had! Same color and everything. Fortunately, my dad was the type to keep multi-packs of all kinds of batteries around the house, so that wasn't much of an issue.

They didn't skip, but the tape could get worn out, and the player could eat your cassette. A chewed up tape could be salvaged, but it didn't play the same, and if it broke, forget it.

Especially Maxim, the one who described all the steps you had to go through to pick music on an iPod.

I loved the kid who was all wide-eyed horror saying "Imagine all the cassettes you'd have to have!" Exactly, kid, exactly.

I guess it depends. Once the technology was out there there were a ton of cheap plastic knockoffs, so I can understand tossing those, but my player was a real, metal Sony Walkman (my "big" Christmas present, circa 83-84). I may have stopped using it 20-odd years ago, but it still works, and it's not something I'd

'Scuse me, but have you seen Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains? Mega-hot. Still got it.

Point taken, but I think it's different with an adaptation like this. Viewers know there is a lot more story left to tell even after this season ends, and that the resolution is on the horizon, even if it technically hasn't been written yet. It's not the same as most other shows that are open-ended season to season

Or he could un-focus his eyes. I've done that in similar situations. When it comes to GoT, if you're really spoiler-averse, you need to be hyper-aware when reading the comment section on posts like this or avoid it entirely.

That's not the way it works here. This isn't a site with dedicated forums like TWoP where you could have ongoing discussions; the review threads have a shelf life, and are even more difficult to navigate now with Disqus, because there's no pagination. The fact is that discussions like this are going to pop up on any

I was genuinely horrified when I saw the guy who hosted Temptation Island hosting AR. How?!? Why?!?

Nah, there's no shame in liking Celebrity Skin. I prefer Live Through This, but CS is a good album. What I should maybe be ashamed to admit is how much I dug the video for "Celebrity Skin" (especially since I was in my 30s and watching TRL. Hey, I was unemployed at the time!).

I actually liked the episode for the most part, but I laughed at that last line too.
"Find out what, Rick?"
*long pause*
"That they're screwing with the wrong people!"
"Oh…I thought you, like, had a plan or something, but, okay."

I like Celebrity Skin quite a bit (especially because it was Courtney's "Fuck you, I'm still here" album), but I so prefer the rawness of Live Through This. Violet, Jennifer's Body, Miss World, Doll Parts, Asking For It, Softer Softest…as a whole, it's just about perfect.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, there. For the record, I was in my 20s when Live Through This came out. It's still one of my favorite albums. It's fair to say Kurt and Courtney were both fucked up, and I'm sure he would have done plenty of damage to his own reputation/legacy if he hadn't offed himself. But you cannot dismiss

I remember him from Guiding Light too. It's too bad, because as many other things as I've seen him in, I always still thought of him as Beth's asshole stepfather.

Agreed. I loved AD, but I never understood why people felt so strongly that it was cancelled too soon, and pushed so hard for a movie/new episodes. The show was in danger of being cancelled from the moment the first episode aired; it's a miracle that it lasted one full season, let alone three. Be happy you got more

I don't know if I would say she wanted to die…maybe at peace with dying. I think she realized she couldn't bear the burden of keeping that secret from Tyreese any longer, and resolved that whatever happens, happens. She did what she felt she needed to do; she was going to allow him to decide what he needed to do.

Exactly. I found it odd that Zach kept suggesting that Lizzie was driven insane by the ZA. I thought it was clear that she'd never been right, and she's just about the right age when psychopathic tendencies would begin to emerge, zombies or no. There's a world of difference between developing a hard edge, like

The phrase "now a well-established director in his own right" is what jumped out at me re: Rodriguez. It makes it sound like no one knew who he was at the time or like it was his first movie. Rodriguez made a big splash with El Mariachi, and very successfully re-made it as Desperado before FDTD. Tarantino had only

Bobby McGee was Joplin's only number one hit, but forty years down the road, might Piece of My Heart be considered her best-known song? (Not that it matters, since that too was a cover.)
