I feel like it wasn't just Logan pulling her away from Piz, it was the thrill and the challenge of the mystery, of Neptune. A big part of why she wasn't ever going to end up with Piz is because she thrives in chaos and before the movie completely defanged him, Logan was chaos personified and Piz is Order and Safety.

That's what makes it effective. If it were any more, then he'd just end up in the Peter/Gerard camp of scenery chewing.
