Even I knew about The Turtle.

Dre is slowly becoming very unsympathetic to me this season, even more so than last year. Not quite "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" levels of unsympathetic, but he's a complete man-child and an utter, unapologetic materialist. Now that I think about it, he reminds me of my cousin…

I always thought they'd be a little tough; not enough marbling in the flesh. Do I have a crock pot or a smoker in the apocalypse?

Yeah, gauges be gnarly.

"Namely, how can one tell the difference between a preference that is
their own, and one that's shaped by omnipresent cultural influences? Is
separating the two even possible?"

I like large noses, apparently. Pretty much every woman I've ever fallen hard for has a big snot locker. Mrs. Ma has a large nose, too.

Ugh. The Final Five. What a colossal narrative fuck up.

Oh YEAAAAH!

You'd be surprised. This year a colleague of mine showed Goodfellas in her film class. NO ONE (mostly fresh-people and sophomores) had seen the movie before she screened it. I fucking wept.

The Vietnamese gag was pretty good.

“Yeah, it’s amazing. She and dad grew up on the same block, but she’s actually successful.” That made me laugh, given how they're obviously rich as sin.

The overly-interwoven characters also made the show feel somewhat small, which is why I'm not a huge fan of Jon Pertwee's era either. I probably could have done without the entire Kovarian and Silence plot entirely and would have preferred River to remain a bit of a mystery, or else set her up for a future season-long

I vote for ditching the connection between River and the Ponds.

I've always loved the idea of River Song (the Doctor meets a companion who travels with him further up the time line), but the execution has been so hit-or-miss, and the character herself became so warped and weird over consecutive seasons (Amy and Rory's daughter? Really? Really?).

I saw Rod Man (winner of Last Comic Standing) do a stand up gig this weekend, which was fucking hilarious. The show ended but he just kept going, chatting with the audience and improvising until midnight. Also saw The Force Awakens, which was reasonably good, but felt like an episode in a series rather than a

Blood orgy…

Sadly, I don't. I have only fuzzy memories of my very early childhood. I do remember the toys and the record of Williams' score, which I had. I remember Empire very vividly, and the line for the movie that wrapped around the theater multiple times…

So, best whistle-blower movie? As a Michael Mann fan, I'm going to go with The Insider. Others?

Hey, me too! (Though I was only five, but still…)

It all sounds good to me. I'm not expecting pure originality. It isn't like it's a new franchise blatantly ripping off Star Wars; it IS Star Wars, so I'm not coming to it expecting a new, fully realized universe. Table setting, call backs, and a good time are all that is required. (And besides, the original films
