What interests me is that so many of the spirits are on Unalaq and Vaatu's side. Fluffytoes instantly grabbed Jinora, Wan Shi Tong ran off to get Unalaq (and the bulldogs changed, but that might just have been because they were close to Vaatu). I'm hoping there is going to be another ethical conflict where there is

It would be good to see Nucky and _anyone_ be friends. Dude really doesn't like to empathise with people. Fucking Eddie took a bullet for him and Nucky still wouldn't elevate him above manservant. I get that you have to have professional relationships, but those can break down at certain points. Better to err towards

Well he missed a beat not mentioning (the relevant) Breaking Bad or (irrelevant) Community didn't he…

I didn't like that the Lion Turtles gave out the power so freely. There was no judging a man by his intentions, no repercussions for not handing back the fire, except for expulsion from the city. It didn't make sense that getting the elements is as easy as talking to the Turtles but no one had questioned the Chu's

Is Raava not trapped within the Avatar though?

Fire Sage knew when the convergence was going to be though.

I'm not really sure I like the Vaatu/Raava idea. It's a little too simplistic for my tastes. People gave A:TLA a lot of grief for Ozai being one-dimensional/less well explored than Azula and Zuko, so I think it is a little strange if, just because they are gods/spirits, V+R get a pass.

This comment rubs me up the wrong way. I can't be arsed to type out why, but please know that I find your opinion stupid.

Makes you wonder how good an Avatar-verse show that doesn't focus on the Avatar could be. The life of even an average bender could still be packed full of interesting things, as Mako showed tonight.

@avclub-898c87055d282d42845c71c13eb81990:disqus You also have the point that Azula was becoming noticeably less stable in the run up to becoming Fire Lord. I felt like I saw Ozai uncomfortable about giving her the title, but always put it down to her going insane a few days later and him sensing it was coming.

Yes it does. What was the payoff from Margaret last season? Thingy died, she got upset and disappeared. That, after 7 episodes of her skulking round the hospital. Yes, it gives us an insight into what life might have been like for women, but does it go beyond being an 'interesting' period piece? I don't think so.

Yes.

Agree, it was a departure from the show's style that really broke my immersion. This isn't Breaking Bad where zany shots and angles are expected. The show has a look and I didn't think breaking away from it did anything good for it (though I was interested in what it was meant to be saying, so I'll go read up on Tom

If only he looked like that permanently. His face is weirdly smooth, I don't like it.

You know that Greenland/Alaska are at the north pole right? And that the Everstorm was in the south. :)

@avclub-e65076d21d4b718526e684473c359d55:disqus So far it's more like she's expecting him to know everything and he doesn't though? Like she's expecting all guys to take a sort of mentor role, which is kind of interesting, if that is what they're aiming for.

@avclub-30016cd5b9045be8de99ad5f1cbfd9af:disqus I don't know what you mean either, is it this:"Korra was originally meant to be a 12 episode miniseries (and all continuations would be made in 12 episode installments), and then halfway through development Nick bumped it up to one season of 26 episodes. So instead of

Stannis knew which is why he went to Dragonstone after Jon Arryn died. Possibly he discussed it with Mel?

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus Firstly, no, secondly this isn't where we talk about books….

This happens so much in the books, in ways that the show doesn't really touch (but I think the DVD extras do instead) and it is one of the things I like most. For three books something will be referenced that you have no idea of, and then you'll get a piece of information that will let little fragments of dialogue
