Russian Ark took the unbroken take to a ridiculous extreme, though as a cinephile I feel a little embarrassed to admit that I thought the movie was pretty dull and unfocused, despite its undoubted technical brilliance.

That 'We are Young' song baffles me - why bother getting Janelle Monae in your song when she only gets four lines (which are all identical), speaks rather than sings the words and is practically drowned out by the 'na na na' chorus in the background anyway? Seems like a waste of her talents, but I suppose it's good…
