"Reign of Fire" Rob was the Rob behind the first X-Files movie and several of the TV eps. Sorry I can't remember his name but I didn't feel like consulting the imdb. If he was at all memorable as a director, I would have remembered dude's name. Ergo, he is mediocre.

I love the moment on the XXX commentary when Cohen refers to Akira Kurosawa as his "spirit guide". Because we all know how much Akira Kurosawa loved Vin Diesel and Tony Hawk.

I know "AIM" was maybe Joel's biggest album, but I find it odd that "The Nylon Curtain" didn't rate a mention. For my money, that's the great Billy Joel album. It sounds Beatlesque, but not in a crass way.

They've done that. And judging from tonight's episode, Raj probably isn't as worried about talking to girls as he was before. Just maybe his bromance with Stuart will finally break the curse.

I would have left a slot for the Francis Coppola show with George Wendt. It was MIchaels' first year back, and the conceit of the episode was that Coppola had been brought in make SNL in his own style. In some ways, that was SNL's bravest season.

"Toys" never lived up to its teaser trailer, which was just Robin Williams riffing in a huge wheat field set. That was also the moment when "just Robin Williams riffing" started to seem sad. Barry Levinson may have written "Toys" but he had no feel for manic whimsy.

Thanks for mentioning WPIX, Warren Oates. That's the station that would always show stuff like Kimba the White Lion and Gigantor. Even now, with hundreds of channels five feet away, I really miss 70's - era WPIX programming.

I really like Robyn Hitchcock's album of Dylan covers, "Robyn Sings". For whatever reason, I'm always drawn to his version of "Dignity".

It was Allan Arkush who prevailed. Got up on Corman's couch and did a very convincing impression of the Who smashing their instruments  and said that disco was for people with money and rock n roll was for people who didn't have money.

Never liked MASH until Morgan showed up.

Or "Mad Magazine's Up the Academy"

I met Andy when he was a college student in Ithaca doing sketch comedy at the Kitchen Theatre. Talked to him at length and was never so sure that this guy would someday be famous. Better Comedy Central than breathing life into corpses like "Yogi Bear".

Sorry Keith. The pan you refer to is a horizontal move: left to right or right to left.
So it's not a pan and a zoom, but rather a dolly and a zoom.

True story: when "Tattoo You" came out, I was in NYC tripping balls in my roommate's basement. We were smoking pot and listening to the radio. I heard two seconds of "Start Me Up" and knew it was new Stones.

I really hated the "30 Rock" pilot.
So she's the producer of a live comedy show and she has time to get into a ridiculous scene at a hot dog stand? I was like, "Get to work!"
