Anyone paired with Mimi would have been doomed if only because pretty much all of the queens openly hated or had a grudge against Mimi—there was blood in the water. My dad rented Heavy Metal under the old assumption that animation = for kids. Or maybe he was a Cheap Trick fan, I don't know.

There should be support groups for kids who were forced to watch Pay It Forward. My small, Catholic high school gathered us all in the auditorium to see it, and I ended up cringing through the Kevin Spacey/Helen Hunt sex scene while sitting next to my math teacher.

re: East of Eden: the movie only adapts the last quarter or so of the book, omitting most of Adam's life story. I think the filmmakers made the right decision to focus on Cal, though—he's the most interesting character in the book and, well, who could argue with that James Dean performance?

Yeah, I liked what we saw of Pam Anderson backstage (and props to her for laughing off Sharon's sex tape joke). I'm guessing a lot of her screentime got cut to make room for the Willam drama, though.

Would estrogen shots stop facial hair growth? After so much emphasis on his five-o-clock shadow and nearly being sent home last week, it sounds plausible.

How about Shredder Orpheus? More people need to know about that oddity.

I don't think it's fair to say that Damon is "unequivocally a good guy." After all, last episode he tried to force the life of a vampire on Elena without her permission. Even when he tries to do something good he ends up doing something unforgivable. I don't think the show has forgotten his crimes—his abuse of his

I think the implication was that Matt told her (in his "you covered up Vicki's murder!" rant) that Caroline was a vampire.

Tone
The jarring tonal shifts in this episode were frustrating. There'd be a serious, reasonably-well done scene about Tina's inability to grow up and connect with people her own age, but then the cartoonishly outraged "WHERE ON THE DOLL DID SHE TOUCH YOU?" cop shows up and it's all blown to hell. Then there's Dave,

A review of 'The Booby Hatch" right next to an interview with Harold Bloom. Oh, AV Club, never change.
