As dickish as he's been with Mellie, Ballard probably wouldn't be able to live with himself if he let the Doll he had personally known and "used" stay in that situation. (I agree with Mystyc that some kind of "I have to go back" convo between Ballard and Composite Echo happened off screen.) In a way Ballard was able

I agree, it pretty much saved Ballard's character in my eyes—but that's just it, the scene is really about Ballard, not the young woman (whoever she was) who got her freedom back.

"Candy-Colored Clown"
I enjoyed the use of "In Dreams" and the Blue Velvet ref.

"He had a heart attack."
So why IS there a hopping foot with a head growing out of it?

Truthfully, I think Moore weakened that message himself when he had Ozymandias catch the bullet—not that I'm looking forward to Snyder's excess.

Doesn't he have a serious (well, as serious as a Quentin Tarantino movie can be) role coming up in Inglorious Basterds?

Twin Peaks
Even though the Annie episodes sucked, I still want to know what happened after "Cooper" broke the mirror with his face. Probably the most lingering unresolved cliffhanger I've ever seen.

Count of Monte Cristo
I'm a bit surprised that the Count of Monte Cristo connection wasn't brought up, considering both plots rely on long-incubating, insanely elaborate revenge schemes.

SWITCHER!
Aw, no questions about his epic role in Mannequin?

"Dawn" is a reference to the Season 2 episode "Love Bheits." When Dean was mistaken for a girl he was called Dawn and Hank assumed he had a long-lost sister.

Childhood Trauma
I remember being scared by the Gremlins 2 TV commercials when I was a kid. My unsuspecting parents once took me to one of those old WB stores in a mall, and they had a Gremlin puppet hanging from the exposed ceiling. I screamed like a banshee.

Rusty's arc
I don't think Rusty's arc this season was moral redemption so much as getting his shit together—and after "The Doctor is Sin" we see some semi-successful results both with the day camp and him trying to get the big drill in the basement working. And in "ORB" he finds his groove again by going back to his

Hank's little crush on Le Tueur was great. "What would Batman do?"

If Jonny Quest had been created by Peter Chung, he'd look like Herr Trigger.

In the world of costumed villainy, saving your own ass so you can live to fight another day is part of the job.

The Monarch can be a very effective villain when he puts his mind to it—in this very episode his plan succeeds and he fools a genius like JJ. I don't think Doc and Publick would go through three seasons of Dr. Girlfriend and the Monarch breaking up, reuniting, and getting married just to break them up again. They're

Light's cruelty
A lot of Death Note fans have debates over Light's morality and whether he was right or not (or whether the creators believe he was right). For me, once he kills Raye and Naomi there's no question that he's evil.

There's a (possibly apocryphal) story about Maclachlan storming out of the Showgirls premiere because he thought it was going to be an "art" movie.

Rules of Attraction
The Rules of Attraction DVD has a "guest commentary" by Carrot Top, who had nothing to do with the film and had apparently never seen it before they started recording. It's not funny at all, though his reactions to the opening rape scene and an implied gang bang are pretty awkward.

Twilight?
Did anybody make it to the Twilight panel? I hear it was batshit insane.
