Oh God, that was my exact reaction. I watched a few episodes with my dad (who was my high school football team's doctor while I was a cheerleader) and he kept referring to Buddy Garrity as the dad of one of our best players.

I'd actually suggest his short stories. Those were my introduction to his work, and they continue to be some of my favorite writings, period. "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" seems particularly apt, today.

EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!

Playing air-guitar with Matthew Rhys is going on my bucket list.

This show always makes me feel, and this episode was outstanding in that respect. The most powerful moment for me was when Elizabeth spat "LOOK AT HIM" at Ronald Reagan on TV. Goosebumps. I freaking crave Keri Russell on this show.

Funny, the scene that popped to mind for me was Sandra Bullock slamming the broken microwave door repeatedly in Miss Congeniality. So many great movie scenes of frustration!

She was my high school celebrity girl-crush. And she's still gorgeous.

RAAAAIIIIIINNNNNNN!

I firmly believe Sweetness should replace Paul.

Wait, what?

I hope it makes it. I've only watched two episodes — as I was hovering around CBS waiting for Elementary to come on — and both have made me laugh pretty hard. The whole cast is adorable.

So you like big boats and you cannot lie?

"I'll keep that in mind. And when I say 'keep that in mind' I really mean 'stop talking to me.'"

Bears are so wise.

The Drew Thompson mystery and the various forms of drug smuggling aside, bank robbing just sounds so awesomely old-school. I can't wait!

Boner Tim?

Me too. Poor Jimmy. As the guy who got kneecapped said, that really is the worst job ever.

That whole scene was awesome. And for all of Boyd and Raylan's great eat-shit-and-die smiles, Mary Steenburgen has a damn good one, too.

Nice! I was on that thread, but I wasn't the OP. If I'm remembering right, he/she mentioned both that book and Lonesome Dove as go-to recommendations. I count those two among my all-time favorites, and your comment about the way Follett and George R.R. Martin's female characters often get treated got me thinking.

She is Drop Dead Gorgeous.
