Do your research, Anderson!
Oh, interesting. I definitely think there's more weight given to Watson in this show than in other adaptations (like House for instance), and I certainly empathize more with him than with Sherlock, but I never get the feeling that he's the character the show revolves around. More like he's the one whose relationship…
Yeah, I get what you're saying. I still don't think it's an underrated show in the slightest — if anything, it's got a rabid fan base.
Yes, that's a very good point. We want to empathize with the lead character but it becomes harder to do with each turn — maybe that's the point, but it's still problematic.
Great to know. And thanks for not spoiling!
Excellent. I'm glad to hear it.
I was one of those harping on it when it was still just a Newswire article about a CBS Sherlock. But I'm really glad I gave it a chance, because it's been so rewarding. And
Balls of steel, Handlen. Balls. Of. Steel.
I was going to say the same thing. I think the AV Club does a better job than anywhere else of pointing out flaws in Sherlock — and even then it's still highly praised.
Absolutely. Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu really are a treat to watch together.
I'm a fan of both shows, but I hadn't noticed until my recent rewatch of the BBC seasons 1 and 2 (and, of course, tonight's US premiere of season 3) how truly insensitive Sherlock is toward others. It's a testament to Cumberbatch's acting, I think, that I'm so taken with the character (and his intellect and charm)…
Those dumb jokes, and you strangers, have always helped brighten my day. I'm glad we could be there for you in some small way, @avclub-f41c98ac606e9b29fce2d59f71df434d:disqus. And I'm truly sorry for your loss.
I also had The Sixth Sense spoiled for me. It didn't take away from the film (I really enjoyed it) but it did kind of suck to have everyone in the audience gasping at the big reveal and not be in on it.
I'm not going any lower than this in the comments for fear of spoilers, but I'm super excited about the new season — three episodes be damned.
Someone call Limehouse!
That's still some badass shit.
Very well said. I also like the continuing nod to Raylan's fatherhood in itself — he's a father figure to Loretta, and finds that coming somewhat naturally, but he's also a literal one now, and still struggling with everything that means. Top that all off with his dealings with his own father — that shining paragon of…
Really? I was just about to hit up IMDb in hopes that I would figure out who that blond girl had been previously. I got that she was poking for info and must have reported back to someone.
I was partial to "I've got a loaded gun, get out of my car."
