I thought it was much stronger than the John Darnielle one. Darnielle seemed to be performing his interview instead of just having a conversation, whereas E's felt much more real and human.

Oh, you mean by pretending to be relieved he's not a pedophile. When in real life people are usually fine with being peodphiles.

Except for that one episode of CBB which was one of the funniest of last year and he was fantastic on it.

@avclub-884c4beddd8c98bb3b016bdfcc1bcdf8:disqus Does it say "Fast forward past the plugs" at the end there? Maybe that's why they don't play it?

Howard and the Don't Stops was the best ep of '13 so far just for the yapping alone, but then the Don't Stops bring those sweet tunes in and almost all of them ruled too.

Best.

You don't even like him on his main deal - Bullseye - where he's not playing that goofy character at all?

@avclub-6d6285f92ba0ef734664f38cad2ee091:disqus Yeah, I guess you're right, I've only watched half the ep so far but they do seem like strangers to the show. Hopefully a bunch of them were converted by the end though.

@avclub-39b9301d8c5ab083520c1af05f1b5a5a:disqus I've heard a couple of eps.

@avclub-64f027640f63616a277e92096313264f:disqus Scott Aukerman's clinically retarded?

@avclub-6d6285f92ba0ef734664f38cad2ee091:disqus Is it possible part of it is that they just didn't mic the audience?

Me too. In fact the whole development of the relationship between Fielder and Jazz Jazz was perfect CBB

It's ok to be weird, John Darnielle.

Twooch is frequenty the better episode of the week, especially since Whooch has never REALLY been about "getting to know the guest though the medium of charts" but is really about the magnificently flummoxing mind of Howard Kremer. That's why so many (erroneously, I thought) hated on the Steve-O episode. On that one

Both fantastic All Time Classic podcasts

I don't think you have to be a Mountain Goats fan to enjoy the interview, but just as with his music Darnielle's full-steam-ahead conversational style is probably an aquired taste.

@avclub-85203ae86f2de2662ca5b6d614fbe495:disqus The New York Crime Report with Pat Dixon is a great non-LA comedy podcast if you're into having some of that grimy New York vibe in your life but can't commit to something as involved and voluminous as Keith and The Girl. You have to have a dark sense of humour though,

It was good stuff, right? I'd never heard of the Podcast Cast before you brought it up but I liked Dustin well enough from being on Whooch and was curious enough about his story behind Feral that I made time for it in my already stupidly packed podcast roster, and it was totally worth it.

No, fair call @avclub-df83ed4cad9fa81493f91ebed5e46b40:disqus, that was an amazing moment, but it was the exception. Hence "almost" nothing.

I knew next to nothing about his music but from what I remembered it was a pretty low-key affair, so when he turned up in the garage yapping at 176mph like he was on the Walter White stuff one of my eyebrows raised.
