I'm downloading it now and am going to watch later. weird that Joel isn't featured as their two best records—-In the West and Libertine feature him. The stuff later is good, but they were most interesting when he was in the band.

The problem with Albini's assessment is the fact that virtually everything he records sounds the same.

Don't like this song, the record it's on, or ever JEW much for that matter, but Clarity is just an amazing fucking record. The production is ace, the songs & songwriting vary quite a bit throughout, and it all flows together in a way their latter or earlier stuff didn't, and it is one of the best American rock records

Skynyrd's an easy band to profess hate for due to the ubiquity of Free Bird, especially for those into punk (see "Hurtin' Crue" by the Descendents) but they really had a sort of cosmic boogie that a lot of Southern rock bands, most notably the Allmans, had in spades. The songs do hold up, and while I definitely prefer

If you want to retain any respect for the guy, whatever you do, don't read his bio book. He comes off as an amazing asshole, totally trashing the contributions of the guys in Husker Du—-especially funny since Grant had as many great songs as Bob, glossing over the whole Sugar experience, and containing way too much

Only if it was the line-up that recorded "The Problem with Me." Their best record by far.
