Failure
I wore out my CD of Failure's Fantastic Planet when I was in high school. I can't imagine that brand of droney, post-Nirvana pseudo-grunge holding up very well. I did hear their cover of "Enjoy The Silence" the other day, though, and it was pretty good.

Ignoring the elephant in the room
I like how they didn't really comment one way or the other on which version of the original trilogy they'll be releasing. Everybody knows it's going to be the DVD versions (probably), but I appreciate them trying to soak up as many pre-orders as possible before clarifying that point.

I thought Mann's character was funny and also felt real. I realize I'm in the minority, though.

Blu-Ray.

Go David Fincher
I'm glad this was a financial, as well as a critical, success. Fincher has always been hit or miss with me, but I love Zodiac enough that I'll pretty much see whatever he makes. TSN is the only movie of his that I'd put around that same level, so I'll be happy if this gives him a little more pull.

Do do do dooo doooo doooooooooooooooo

Well, you only have to sit through like seven more weeks and your nightmare will be over. I assume at least part of the reason the show was selected was because it would be easy to knock out over the seasonal break.

Who wouldn't want to die while wearing a Spider-Man costume?

Glad he's doing OK
I'm happy to hear he's recovering well and being force-fed more hush-up money than he can handle. Capitalism at work!

OG Viewer
I remember watching this live (and haven't seen it since). I didn't particularly care for the episode, but I remember being struck by how low-key Adam Sandler was in the part. It was one of the first times I got the impression that he had at least some self-awareness about his persona.

I don't even hate Glee. I have no opinion on it whatsoever, as I've never seen an episode, never heard one of their covers, have no idea what the stars look like, and have seen like two commercials.

In the Wilderness
There are times when I feel completely isolated from a pop culture phenomenon. In this case, Glee.

*Orson, not Orsen Welles. Sorry, buddy.

Probably the best-case scenario
Any attempted adaptation of Blood Meridian is going to be an abysmal failure anyway, so the production may as well be as ill-fated and bizarre as possible.

RATINGS?!?!!??!!!!!!!! ARAGHGHAGHGH

RIP
I always got irrationally excited whenever Postlethwaite showed up on the screen. Hopefully he doesn't take offense at how many times it takes me to correctly type his name.

Free Darko actually "presents" the Disciples of Clyde podcast mentioned above. I don't really know what that entails, but they appeared on a handful of them. Shoals has kind of a dry personality.

They have both video and audio podcasts - four daily shows M-Th, and an hourlong bullshit session with interviews and weekly news recaps on Friday. iTunes subscription links here:

The Basketball Jones
I was surprised to see so many sports-related podcasts on here. If anyone reading has a passing interest in the NBA and doesn't watch/listen to The Basketball Jones, you really should.

I had to turn off the Dane Cook podcast before I could get all the way through. It was like staring at a car accident or watching a man burn to death.
